Skip Computer Packages. Learn What Actually Matters.

A 4-week hands-on programme that teaches Form 4 leavers AI, design and modern digital tools, so they start university ahead.

How can Form 4 leavers use their transition period productively?

Form 4 leavers can use the months before university to build digital and AI skills. Instead of letting the break drift by, students can learn prompt engineering, research habits, design tools and business basics, and walk into first year with a real academic and professional head start.

Planning the months after the exams? Read what to do after KCSE while waiting for results.

An old Microsoft Word certificate used to show a student could handle a computer. AI now does much of that work, so what counts is AI literacy, collaboration tools and confidence online.

The months between Form 4 and university are the best time to get ahead. Skills build on each other quickly when students start early.

From the first week on campus, your child will be expected to present, research, work in online groups and use design tools. With SmartStart, they'll have done it all before.

Workplaces are changing the same way. If you also manage a team at work, FuKazee's corporate AI training teaches staff the same skills SmartStart teaches school leavers, applied to their real work.

From barely knowing Google Docs to building with AI.

Four weeks that prepare your child for campus, internships, online gigs and first jobs. The goal is a student who can create value at university, instead of always calling home for cash.

Week 1: Computer Basics and Google Workspace

The modern replacement for computer packages. See our honest guide to what changed.

One Friday can change how a student sees their future.

Fridays are for exposure and mentorship. Students spend the day with people who've done well at university and after it: working professionals, founders, creators and standout alumni, who explain how they got there and give practical advice.

Real role models

Professionals, founders and alumni who've done it.

Exposure

A first look at careers and possibilities beyond school.

Practical guidance

Straight advice on careers, university and life decisions.

Confidence

Students go home believing they can aim higher.

“I stopped seeing myself as just a Form 4 leaver.”

Simple schedule. High accountability.

How each cohort ran: easy for parents to keep track of, and busy enough that students stayed engaged all month.

Online Sessions

Monday to Thursday, 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Google Meet. Live, hands-on and recorded.

Friday Physical Experience

In person at 124 Manyani East Road, Nairobi: networking, projects and time with entrepreneurs. Students outside Nairobi can join online.

Assignments and Feedback

An assignment after every module, then feedback, so your child can see what to fix and gets better quickly.

Questions parents are likely to ask before enrolling.

Straight answers to what parents ask us most.

My child is not in Nairobi. Can they still join?

Yes. Monday to Thursday sessions are online. Fridays have a virtual option too, but we strongly recommend coming in person when possible, because the exposure and networking are a big part of the value.

Do students really learn in online classes?

Yes. Sessions are interactive and assignment-driven, with no passive lecturing. Students practise as they learn, and the physical Friday sessions take it further.

Is there a certificate?

Yes. Students who complete the programme and their assignments receive a FuKazee certificate.

My child already knows computers. Is this too basic?

Week 1 may feel like revision for some, but Weeks 2 to 4 go much deeper into AI, prompt engineering, design, business thinking and entrepreneurship. That's where most students speed up.

What is the difference from a computer package course?

Computer packages mostly teach how old software works. SmartStart teaches AI, design, digital communication, research habits and practical building skills. It's computer literacy for 2026.

Is SmartStart running right now?

Not at the moment. SmartStart is paused and we're not taking enrolments. Send us a WhatsApp message and we'll let you know if it reopens. When it ran, cohorts were capped at 15 students so feedback stayed personal.

What does my child need to participate?

A laptop or smartphone with internet access. The software we use is free, or has a free version that works for the training.

Who teaches the programme?

Rodney Maina, founder of FuKazee, leads the programme. Guest facilitators come in where their experience helps students see bigger possibilities.

This is where the Friday sessions, exposure days and some meetings happened. Having a real place to come to is a big part of why SmartStart felt like more than an online class.
